The winter transfer window proves to be a period of feverish speculation and possible big-money moves. Several prominent players find themselves connected to moves away from their present teams. Here is a look at some of the top names who could be changing clubs this month.

A. Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' inability to qualify for the AFCON, this has kept the player in contention, it appears a significant transfer is close. This Bournemouth attacker possesses a deal with a £65 million buy-out clause active for a brief window at the start of the month. Recent reports indicate Manchester City look to have won the race for his signature. Former suitors like Chelsea and Tottenham are said to have moved on to alternative options, potentially opening the door for teams like Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a late move.

M. Guéhi

This England centre-back has continued to excel for Crystal Palace despite a previous transfer to Liverpool collapsing. As his deal due to expire in the summer, January is the London club's last chance to obtain a transfer fee for their captain. A host of elite sides, such as Manchester City and multiple European giants including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly hold an interest. Yet, a January exit remains unlikely, especially given the manager's dependence on the player.

B. Johnson

The Wales forward has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Spurs this campaign. Despite being the club's top scorer the previous campaign, he has begun only a small number of league matches. It is understood the North London club would be willing to consider a transfer for the correct price, thought to be in the region of £40 million. The Cherries are currently leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also credited with an interest.

Spurs rate the Welsh international at approximately forty million pounds.

Rúben Neves

This Portuguese playmaker could be poised for a return to the Premier League after a spell in Saudi Arabia. Now just 28, and with his agreement expiring in the summer, he is a potential opportunity. Teams such as Liverpool and Manchester United are connected to the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spain that he would be prepared to take a pay cut for a move to the Spanish giants.

M. ter Stegen

The veteran Germany goalkeeper is now as the third option at Barcelona under the manager Flick. After lost his place and undergone surgery, a winter departure looks increasingly probable. Aston Villa were initially linked as a potential destination, but that move now appears unlikely. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be expressing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

I. Toney

This proven English striker has continued finding the net frequently in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League could boost his fading chances of being in the national World Cup. But, arranging a deal presents major challenges. Al-Ahli do not wish to part with him, and his alleged huge weekly wages make any agreement complicated. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton are all mentioned as interested parties.

Unai Emery has confirmed the loan move will not be made permanent. K. Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkey attacker is in excellent form for Juventus this term. As his existing deal nearing its end, many Premier League clubs – such as Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are keeping tabs on the situation. The Turin club are desperate to tie down the youngster to a lengthy agreement but are in a battle to retain one of the continent's brightest young talents.

K. Smit

The much-admired Dutch teenage midfielder has earned parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. Following impressing at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar first team. This 19-year-old is widely tipped to complete a big-money move in January. Newcastle United reportedly are frontrunners, but are facing stiff rivalry from Real Madrid for a signing priced at around £22 million.
