PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. First, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last thirteen seasons.
