Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, demons, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will separate from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could help the party access locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Explorers and Schemers tables.
Fans can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
